The theme we chose for this year’s event is a call to all members of the Hopkins community to think outside the box and not be limited by society’s and bureaucracy’s rules. In negotiations, one is taught to always “expand the pie,” meaning to add variables to the negotiation table that perhaps weren’t there in the first place. This means that there is always room to negotiate and change the original terms and conditions of any artistic, scientific, social, or business situation. We ask the attendees, speakers, and organizers of TEDxJHUDC to never be limited by written or invisible conditions that may limit a person’s thought process. We ask you to rebel. We ask you to dare to expand the pie. We ask you to not be afraid to look beyond the terms and conditions that are holding you back.
